Crochet Teacup Ornaments

...and hot cocoa too! :)

I know, I know. You're probably saying,"It's July, Meredith!". Well...I was feeling inspired to get a head start on the holidays and work on some new crochet ornaments for the shop! In my opinion, it's never to early to get started on the busy holiday season. I made the first one for my mom last year to continue my annual tradition of giving her a ornament gift on Christmas morning. She loved it so much that I knew I had to add some to my shop this year! I think tiny cups of tea are cute all year long anyway.

As much as I love the excruciating heat of summer, I'm game for sweaters and tea any day. Oh, and records by the fire, twinkly lights, thick socks, blankets, baking, and...well you get the idea. If Hobby Lobby says it's time to put out the Christmas decorations, that's good enough for me! ;)

You can find the crochet ornaments in my shop here.

Has anyone else started on their holiday crafting yet? Or am I overeager and alone in my way-too-early holiday excitement? It's ok. I'm not even a little bit ashamed...

  1. They are so cute! I don't think you're overeager...I keep reading stuff on Etsy about using this slow summer season to get ready for the holidays. :) I've been working on stuff for my shop but haven't been motivated to start on Christmas items yet. It's so hard when it's this hot! But I have been daydreaming about what I want to sew for my fall and winter wardrobe. :) I am so ready for fall to be here.

  3. You're not the only one - I'm currently working on a new Christmas tree skirt, along with a few presents and ornaments. I love working on holiday fare during the heat of the summer - it reminds me that it won't last forever and my favorite time of year is just around the corner.

  4. Having fun is the only thing that counts. :) Doesn't matter if it's too early or too late.

How cute they are! :D So lovely! <3
To personalize it, you could also add initials to the tea bag tags! :D But this is more for using them as keychains or for your bag. (And this btw isn't christmasy! So you're good to go! :)).

    Best wishes, yoojin

  6. You're not eager - you're smart! The rest of us probably wait until about a month before the holidays then scramble to get projects done! I may take a cue from you and start my holiday planning now.. ;)

  9. I mean... technically, they don't HAVE to be Christmas ornaments... I'd hang that from the rearview mirror of my car...

  10. Very adorable! And, no, you aren't the only one who has started on Christmas projects/presents. I have too! Nothing is worse than trying to scramble during the busy holidays to get things done. Too stressful. Thank you for sharing!

  11. These are adorable! I made felt ornaments for gifts last year. I've been thinking about what to make this year. Do you sell patterns for these or know where I could find some for a similar project?

  13. You're not the only one. I finished my first gift (scarf and hat set) a few months ago! I found the yarn and the pattern, and just had to make it, forgetting that it was only April!

  15. Would much rather have winter wooly scarves, hot choc and snuggly blankets over summer sun anyday! And luckily in the UK it doesn't appear we are a having a summer this year (im still in my 100 deniers, this makes me smile!) oh ok so a teeny bit of sun may be nice for a change! But xmas craft planning is super important any time of year. Thanks for sharing these cute gift ideas. x

  17. I love these. I've never been a fan of coffee, but tea and hot chocolate are soooo my style.

I'm actually on a holiday kick too right now. I'm crocheting up some mini-mittens to decorate for the holidays. I'm planning to post about those on my blog soon too if you'd like to check them out.

    I guess we've got a great start towards the holidays...lol! :)

  22. Oh my - these are just so adorable! I've already started on a knit scarf for my grandpa for Christmas. And I agree, anytime is perfect time for knitting/crochet and tea!

  23. This solves it... I'm starting on holiday scarves. I posted a thread in the Etsy forums yesterday asking when people started adding holiday/seasonal items to their shop and everyone said....now/august.

I love the hot cocoa one... adorable and so original!

  30. So cute! "They" say it's good to have your shop stocked for Christmas by now, as the magazines will already be looking at holiday goods for fall publications. Right on time!

  31. I was just thinking about this a few minutes ago! I should start thinking about restocking my etsy shop for winter and for the holidays, I should really start working on new fall-winter projects...but I can't bring myself to it, it's so hot around here! I'm still all summer-inspired...I'm definitely not good at thinking ahead:(
    Love those tea cup ornaments!
